LP Pitch
My idea for the LP project is an image that conveys reflection and a sense of longing for childhood and past experiences. The album I’ve chosen is “Mirror” By Lauren Spencer Smith, which contains songs about her experiences in the past and how they affected her attitude toward her life, along with her newfound hesitation in accepting new experiences. The overall mood of this album is longing for past obliviousness, so I’d say it is people who relate to the music and its message.
As I mentioned before, the album's singer is Lauren Spencer Smith. Lauren Spencer Smith is from Portsmouth, United Kingdom, but moved to Canada as a toddler. She is 21 years old and has been singing since she moved to Canada. She’s an indie artist, somewhat well-known thanks to her songs “Flowers” and “Fingers Crossed” from the same album. Her music is a mix of melancholy reflection and hopes for the future. She has often been compared to Olivia Rodrigo, as their songs frequently explore similar topics.
My album cover will focus more on the reflective longing aspect of the album’s theme. I want mine to be a little darker, to match my perception of the album better. In my opinion, after listening to the album in its entirety, the cover of the album doesn’t match the almost self-deprecating, heartbroken themes of the album. I want my version of the album cover to be dark lighting-wise, but it will be in color. I do plan, however, on using as few colors as possible, except for a lone candle, which will represent childhood innocence.
